Applications are invited for Labourers (Engineering Workers) for Temporary Full-Time and Casual assignments in the Engineering Operations Division of the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department. These assignments are anticipated to begin as early as late February 2022 and end late September 2022, subject to operational requirements. The successful candidates will perform a variety of manual duties including water, sewer and storm installation, repair and maintenance.  Road construction and maintenance tasks and other physical duties may also be assigned. 

RATE OF PAY:              $30.25 per hour (2021 C.U.P.E. rate)
HOURS OF WORK:     Temporary Full- Time hours are 40 hours per week 
                                      Casual hours are up to 40 hours per week 

Temporary Full-Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid vacation and become eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.  Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of all benefits.   

The successful candidates will have Grade 12 plus experience in general construction and maintenance and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License (a Class 3 is desirable). Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description

Applications are invited for a Casual Recreation Worker 5 (Fitness Instructor – Spin/Indoor Cycle) in the Recreation, Culture & Community Services Department at the Langley City.  We are looking for an enthusiastic fitness instructor to teach spin/indoor cycle classes with opportunities to teach other group fitness classes and group weight training.  The successful candidate will design and instruct safe, effective and appropriate spin/indoor cycle classes and fitness programs to meet the needs of different demographics and programs. Fitness classes will be developed to promote safety, fun, enthusiasm, strength and a healthy lifestyle.  

RATE OF PAY:             Recreation Worker 5: $27.59 - $32.19 per hour (2021 C.U.P.E. Rates)

HOURS OF WORK:     Up to 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday*. 
                                      *Hours of work will depend on programing and operational needs.

Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of all paid benefits.

BCRPA Group Fitness Instructor (or equivalent), Group Weight Room, Spin/Indoor Cycle Certification and current Emergency First Aid Certification are required.  Applicants should have strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.  Details of the position and requirements can be found in the job description.

The City of Langley is looking for an individual with great customer service and administrative skills to join our Clerical Casual Pool. Applications are invited to work within various Departments such as Engineering, Development Services and Corporate Services. Casual assignments involve varied work providing coverage for staff absences and working on special projects as the needs arise. The initial assignments will be in Engineering and Development Services, processing permit and license applications, responding to routine enquiries, providing administrative support and more. Areas of work may also include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and property tax collection should a candidate demonstrate the necessary skills and qualifications in one or more of these areas. The ideal candidate for this role is not looking for full-time work but also wants to keep their skills up to date and has the flexibility to work casually as needed.

RATE OF PAY:           
Various depending on work assigned. 
Clerk Typist 4 – Engineering – Pay Grade 15: $29.68 to $31.06 per hour (C.U.P.E. 2021 rates)
Clerk - Permits & Licenses –    Pay Grade 14: $29.08 to $30.24 per hour (C.U.P.E. 2021 rates)
Clerk Typist 3 - Pay Grade 12:  $27.99 to $29.08 per hour (C.U.P.E. 2021 rates)

HOURS OF WORK:    Up to 35 hours per week (generally, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid vacation.

Applications are invited for a Temporary Full-Time Lead Shift Supervisor in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department at Al Anderson Memorial Pool. Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Lead Shift Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, supervising and evaluating all aquatic employees. This role assists the Recreation Supervisor in planning, organizing, promoting and evaluating the outdoor aquatic program. The temporary full-time assignment starts April 4 and ends September 3, 2022.

RATE OF PAY:           Shift Supervisor: $30.98 - $31.81 per hour (2021 C.U.P.E. rates) 
HOURS OF WORK:   40 hours per week (TFT)
(Monday to Sunday including days, afternoons, evenings and weekends) 

Temporary Full-Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid annual vacation. 

A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, National Lifesaving Award, Basic Rescuer CPR, Red Cross Instructor Award, BCRP Pool Operator I  and II Certification and Lifesaving Instructor Award are required. Extensive experience in lifeguarding, instruction and staff supervision, a Lifesaving Examiner Award, National Lifesaving Instructor Award, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Training, BCRPA Aquafit Instructor Certification (or equivalent), CPR Instructor Certification, Red Cross Aquatic Programmers Course, Aquatic Supervisor Training, BCRPA Pool Supervisor’s course, or equivalent combination of training and experience are desired.
