Applications are invited for Casual Clerk Typist 3 at the City of Langley.  Casual assignments may be in various Departments at the City of Langley providing coverage for vacation, illness and other absences.  It is anticipated that most assignments will be during the period June through September with limited assignments during the remainder of the year.  The successful candidate will have flexible availability to assist with the various assignments.   This administrative role may be assigned secretarial, receptionist and clerical tasks.  Duties include providing customer service to the public, community organizations and internal stakeholders.

RATE OF PAY:             Pay Grade 12:  $25.09 to $26.07 per hour (2015 C.U.P.E. Rate)

HOURS OF WORK:     Up to 35 hours per week    
                                  (Will vary according to need and length of assignment)         
                                  (Generally the hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) 

Casual employees are paid 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid vacation.

The successful candidate will have completed grade 12 supplemented by business courses and several years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Previous experience in local government is desired.  Familiarity with municipal services and software programs such as Microsoft Office, Tempest, Agresso, and Hummingbird is desired. HOURS OF WORK:   *Up to 35 hours per week.  Tuesdays        11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 
                                                                         Thursdays:      11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Applications are invited for a Regular Full-Time Plan Checker/Inspector to work in the Development Services and Economic Development Department.  Under the direction of the Chief Building Inspector, the Plan Checker/Inspector is responsible for review of plans for a variety of construction projects and for inspection of buildings during construction to ensure compliance with approved plans, established by-laws, acts, codes, standards and regulations.

RATE OF PAY:         Pay Grade 26:  $37.79 (2015 C.U.P.E. Rates)

HOURS OF WORK:  35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

A Level 1 Building Official Certification from the Building Officials’ Association of B.C. and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence are required.  Graduation from a program at an Institute of Technology in building technology and a minimum of 2 years experience as a Plan Examiner in a city/municipality in the Province of B.C. with a primary focus on Part 9 buildings is desired.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for directing, coordinating, monitoring and managing the activities of the Information Services Division which includes maintaining the City’s technology infrastructure and overseeing technical projects within applicable regulations, policies and rules.   The Manager of Information Services is accountable for database administration, installation and maintenance of systems software and hardware, and planning and implementing IT system upgrades and improvements.  The ideal candidate will have experience with system security, Information Services policies and procedures and infrastructure management; a proven record managing in a unionized environment; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  We are seeking a forward-thinking individual who has strong planning, budgetary and financial and project management skills.  Details of the position and requirements can be found in the job description.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for revenue generated through property taxes, user fees and other sources.  The Manager of Revenue and Business Systems will establish the tax rate in conjunction with the Director of Corporate Services and will monitor the water and sewer rates and make recommendations for billing and collection for Property Taxes, Utility Billing, Dog Licensing and Cash Collections.  The successful applicant will also be responsible for business systems including analyzing system needs and identifying opportunities for improvements and for planning, organizing and scheduling required resources for major new system implementations.  We are seeking a forward-thinking individual who has experience with project management, analyzing and problem solving technical issues; a proven record managing in a unionized environment; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.   Details of the position and requirements can be found in the job description.
