Applications are invited for a Casual Recreation Worker 3 (Substitute Early Childhood Educator, Cookie Monster Preschool) to work in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department.  Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor the Substitute Early Childhood Educator will work independently and will be responsible for a developmentally based educational program for preschool children age 3 – 5 which meets the emotional, physical, cognitive, and social needs of individuals and the group. The Substitute Early Childhood Educator will provide coverage for vacation, illness and other absences.   

RATE OF PAY:             $20.21 to 21.69 per hour (2015 C.U.P.E. rates)

HOURS OF WORK:       The program dates and hours that may have coverages needs are as follows:

               4 year old program                               3 year old program
               Monday, Wednesday, Friday                 Tuesday, Thursday
                8:30 a.m. to  11:30 a.m.                       9:00 a.m. to  11:30 a.m.
               12:30 p.m. to   3:30 p.m.                     12:30 p.m. to   3:00 p.m. 

Casual employees are paid 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid vacation.   

A Certificate in Early Childhood Education, a valid B.C. Early Childhood Educator licence, a valid Emergency Childcare First Aid Certificate or Standard First Aid Certification with CPR B or C and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s licence are all required.  Training or courses in behavioral/developmental challenges, autism spectrum, or special needs therapy are desired.  Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description.
