Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Building Inspector to work in the Development Services and Economic Development Department.  Under the direction of the Chief Building Inspector, this technical and regulatory position involves the inspection of structural, architectural, plumbing, landscaping, civil, and safety installations in all types of new construction and alterations to existing structures, to ensure that the work complies with all codes and regulations. The Building Inspector also reviews plans and issues permits in the enforcement of building and related codes, by-laws and practices

RATE OF PAY:                Pay Grade 27:  $36.58 to $39.05 per hour (2015 C.U.P.E. Rate)

HOURS OF WORK:        35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Graduation from a program at an Institute of Technology in building technology or completion of Grade 12 supplemented by construction experience at the journeyman level in one of the building trades, or minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Building Inspector/Plan Checker in a City/Municipality with primary focus on Part 3 complex buildings is desired.

A current Level 3 Building Official certification from the Building Officials’ Association of B.C. and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License are required. Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description.

Applications are invited for Casual Recreation Worker 5’s in the Recreation, Culture & Community Services Department at the City of Langley.  We are looking for enthusiastic substitute fitness instructors for a variety of drop in fitness classes.  The successful candidate will design and instruct safe, effective and appropriate fitness programs to meet the needs of different demographics and programs. Fitness classes will be developed to promote safety, fun, enthusiasm, strength and a healthy lifestyle.  

RATES OF PAY:         Recreation Worker 5:  $24.74- $28.87 (2015 C.U.P.E. Rates)   
        
HOURS OF WORK:    Up to 35 hours per week; Monday to Sunday. 
                                 *Hours of work will depend on operational needs.
  
Casual employees are paid 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid annual vacation.

Applicants should have strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.  BCRPA Group Fitness and 3rd Age Certification and current First Aid Certification are required.  BCRPA or equivalent Certification in Group Weight Training, Personal Training, Group Fitness and Spin are desired.  Details of the position and requirements can be found in the job description.

Applications are invited for Casual Clerk Typist 3 at the City of Langley.  Casual assignments may be in various Departments at the City of Langley providing coverage for vacation, illness and other absences.  It is anticipated that most assignments will be during the period June through September with limited assignments during the remainder of the year.  The successful candidate will have flexible availability to assist with the various assignments.   This administrative role may be assigned secretarial, receptionist and clerical tasks.  Duties include providing customer service to the public, community organizations and internal stakeholders.

RATE OF PAY:             Pay Grade 12:  $25.09 to $26.07 per hour (2015 C.U.P.E. Rate)

HOURS OF WORK:     Up to 35 hours per week    
                                  (Will vary according to need and length of assignment)         
                                  (Generally the hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

The successful candidate will have completed grade 12 supplemented by business courses and several years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Previous experience in local government is desired.  Familiarity with municipal services and software programs such as Microsoft Office, Tempest, Agresso, and Hummingbird is desired. Applications are invited for the Regular Part-Time position of Clerk Typist 3 to work in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department. Reporting to the Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Services, this position involves clerical tasks and considerable public relations.  The Clerk Typist 3 role requires effective and courteous interaction with instructors, user groups, community organizations and the general public. 

RATE OF PAY:               Pay Grade 12:  $25.09 – $26.07 (2015 Rates)

HOURS OF WORK:        24 hours per week.   Initial schedule will be:

                                     Monday and Tuesdays:    5:00 p.m. to  10:00 p.m.
                                     Saturdays:                    10:00 a.m. to   6:00 p.m.
                                     Sundays:                       7:45 a.m. to   3:45 p.m. 

Regular part–time employees who work 20 hours or more per week have the option to participate in benefits or receive 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid annual vacation. 

The successful candidates will have Grade 12 and previous experience in the recreation field, with recreation programs, registration and software programs such as Microsoft Office and registration and facility booking software systems.  A valid Standard First Aid Certificate is required.  Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description.
