Recreation Volunteers

The Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department has a variety of volunteer opportunities for citizens interested in participating in community programs, special events and project specific committees.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Be 13 years of age or older
  • Be interested in recreation, parks, or the environment
  • Be reliable and responsible
  • Must consent to a criminal record check


How do I Volunteer?

  • Fill out a volunteer application form & return to Recreation, Culture & Community Services Department 
  • Complete criminal record check form
  • Attend a volunteer orientation session
  • Meet with a city staff to coordinate placement

 Point of Pride Program

The Point of Pride program has been implemented by the City of Langley to help keep our parks, trails, waterways and streets clean, beautiful and environmentally sound. While most City parks have been successfully adopted, we have many streets and trails available and in need of adoption. Click here for further information and application form.

Aquatic Leadership Program (Shark/Minnow)

The Aquatic Leadership Program at Al Anderson Memorial Pool provides teens and young adults the opportunity to experience the challenges of working in aquatics.  The program includes training in instruction, shadow guarding, leadership and special event training.  Interested candidates should complete the following application form and return it to Douglas Recreation Centre or Al Anderson Memorial Pool by the May 15, 2012 deadline.  Phone (604)514-2865 for more information

Prerequisites:

  • Minnows - 12 to 13 years old and completion of Swim Kids 10
  • Sharks - 14+ years and completion of Swim Kids 10
  • Must complete a one day orientation
  • Must have two reference letter
  • Able to committ a minimum of 25 hours
