Langley, BC – The City of Langley is inviting Langley residents and visitors to experience the Timms Community Centre’s facilities first-hand at its Open House on April 9 between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
The Open House will feature free classes and activities including Yoga-Pilates, Zumba, Volleyball and Bridge, making full use of the Timms Centre’s state-of-the-art amenities. Kids and their parents will not miss out either, with pre-school dance, soccer, and kids’ art throughout the day.
“Since the new Timms Centre opened at the end of February, already it is a cultural and sporting hub in our community,” said City of Langley Mayor Ted Schaffer. “The Open House is another great opportunity to try a new class or tour the facility.”
The new Centre is home to a gymnasium, fitness track, weight room, spin room, games room and multiple multipurpose rooms. Equipped with technologically advanced Technogym cardio equipment, the facility caters to everyone from serious athletes to those looking to get active and have fun.
The equipment in the Centre provides residents with the tools to take an active part in their health and well-being. Langley City’s accredited fitness staff will be on hand to provide training tips and guidance on how to properly use the equipment.
“After such a great reception at our Official Opening in February, we’re looking forward to welcoming all members of the community to experience a new class or activity,” said Kim Hilton, Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Services at the City of Langley, “The free classes are a fantastic opportunity to find your favourite way to get active.”
The all-ages event will feature demonstration classes including Zumba, Badminton, Spin Fit and Lawn Bowling, as well as kids’ arts and crafts. The Youth Committee will have a fundraising BBQ starting at 11:00 am selling Hotdogs, Pop and Chips combos for $3.50. Bottles of water will also be available for purchase. The Open House begins at 10:00 am with classes, information booths and live entertainment throughout the day. View PDF
