Summer Lunch & Lounge at McBurney Plaza offers something for everyone
Langley City, BC – The new Lunch & Lounge pilot project is officially underway at McBurney Plaza! New tables, Adirondack chairs and a variety of fun programming is available at McBurney Plaza through to September 1.
Each Wednesday and Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., City recreation staff will provide an array of ‘Big’ games, free music and other fun activities for business professionals, seniors and people of all ages.
As population and employment in the downtown core continue to rise as more people discover the benefits of living and working in Langley City, there is an increased desire to bring more appealing opportunities to the downtown core. “As part of our commitment to continually improve quality of life in Langley City, we’re pleased and excited to offer these new initiatives,” said Mayor Ted Schaffer. “We encourage everyone, including visitors, to drop by and check out the variety of fun programs we have to offer.”
McBurney Plaza was an ideal location for this pilot project due to its convenient location between Fraser Highway and Douglas Crescent on Park Avenue. McBurney Plaza is also fully accessible.
About the Downtown Initiatives
At the June 26 Regular Council Meeting, Langley City Council endorsed four exciting Downtown Initiatives to provide more events and activities that help enhance diversity and promote the value of urban living. McBurney Plaza is the first initiative to proceed. Others to follow include laneway activation in the downtown core, a pilot “parklet” program that will add more seating areas within the downtown core, and a program to pilot evening activities and events with the Downtown Langley Business Association.
