As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we are always considering what is best for the health and safety of our staff, our residents and the community that we serve. It is important to Langley City that we play our part in keeping our community safe.

As we commence phase 3 of our re-opening plans, Timms Community Centre and Douglas Recreation Centre will remain closed to the public until further notice to prevent the spread of the virus and minimize the exposure of COVID-19. However, the weight room and indoor fitness classes are now open for registration.  Participants must pre-book their sessions- no drop-ins are permitted at this time. 

Langley City staff are excited to welcome back our customers!  As the health and safety of our customers and staff is of utmost importance we ask for your patience at this time as we implement our Phase 3 re-opening plan which includes several new guidelines and policies to keep everyone safe.

Please remember:

  • Regularly wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds; use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if hand-washing is not available.
  • Maintain a physical distance (at least 2 metres apart from others).
  • Avoid gathering in groups.
  • Avoid touching your face, mouth and nose with your hands; Masks are not recommended as protection since they may cause you to touch your face more often, which may be worse than not wearing a mask.
  • Covering mouth with a tissue when coughing and sneezing
  • Discarding tissues into a waste container.
  • Not attending public parks, facilities, events or gatherings if you are unwell and stay home when you are sick.

ADMISSION FEES:

Admission includes access to Weight Room only.  All sessions must be booked 2 hours in advance- no drop-ins are permitted at this time.
48 hours notice is required for a refund.

Current Annual and Monthly Memberships have been suspended until January 3, 2021 with time added on to compensate for the closure.  Current memberships will be accepted as payment for weight room sessions but must be re-activated prior to registration for sessions. 

New memberships (10 pass, 20 pass and 1 month pass) will be available for purchase starting October 13, 2020.

Those wishing to use their  membership to pay for weight room sessions may re-activate their memberships by contacting a customer service representative:

WEIGHT ROOM RESERVATIONS:

Participants may book ahead up to one week in advance. One 90 minute time slot per day.
Reservations may be done up to 2 hours prior to the timeslot. 
48 hours cancellation notice (prior to booked date) is required for a refund.
Patrons are asked to line-up outside the North Entrance to Timms Community Centre and will be let into the weight room at the time of their booking.
Please do not arrive early for your reservation as the weight room will be closed for 30 minutes between each session for cleaning and disinfecting.

PAYMENTS:

  • Via membership cards (no additional fees charged)
    Patrons with current memberships (monthly, annual, punch cards) may use their membership as payment. 

    Reservations are not available online using your membership; you must reserve over the phone or in-person.
    Memberships are currently suspended and will need to be activated prior to booking; please contact Timms Community Centre:  604-514-2940.

If using a punch pass membership (10, 20 passes).  A pass will need to be removed from their membership at the time of the registration.

  • Via credit on account or credit card
    Online, phone and in-person reservations may be paid for using credit on account.  Payment must be made at the time of booking.

  • Via cash, cheque or debit card
    Reservations must be made in-person at Timms Community Centre or Douglas Recreation Centre if paying with cash, cheque or debit.  Payment must be made at the time of registration- at least one day prior to reservation.

REFUNDS:

  • Refunds are permitted with notice 48 hours prior to reserved date.
  • Refunds will be credited to customer’s account; customer can request a cheque refund for an account credit at any time.


WHEN YOU ARRIVE FOR YOUR SESSION:

  • Enter Timms Community Centre through the North Entrance and go  directly to the weight room to check in with the weight room attendant anytime within your 90 minute time slot. 
  • The underground parking lot is not available at this time.  Please park in the parking area on the North side of the building.
  • Do not arrive early for your session as the facility is not open to the public.  You will be asked to wait outside until your time slot opens. 
  • The weight room will be closed 30 minutes between each session for deep cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and surfaces. 
  • Patrons must come dressed for activity, change room space is not available.
  • Exit the building through the Weight Room Patio gate.  There will be no in/out privileges, once you exit the facility you may not return until your next scheduled appointment.

PERSONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS:  

Work with a certified BCRPA personal trainer to create a tailored fitness program to meet your specific needs and goals.  Personal Training sessions are one hour each and will include a fitness assessment, detailed program design, motivational workouts and support from your trainer.  Need extra motivation and support?  Book tandem training sessions and train with a friend or spouse!  Training sessions will be scheduled according to your availability so there's no excuse.... book your trainer today!

PERSONAL TRAINING- 1 PERSON

  • 3 SESSIONS -    $145 + GST
  • 5 SESSIONS -    $235 + GST
  • 10 SESSIONS -  $450 + GST

PERSONAL TRAINING- 2 PEOPLE (pairs must be at a similar fitness level to share training sessions)

  • 3 SESSIONS -   $218.00 + GST
  • 5 SESSIONS -   $353.00 + GST

GROUP WEIGHT TRAINING PROGRAMS:

TEEN PUMP PROGRAM:  13-16 YRS.

A comprehensive weight training program just for teens teaching the safest, most effective techniques and exercises.  Youth 13-15yrs who successfully complete the TEEN PUMP Program will be permitted into the Timms Community Centre Weight Room without Adult Supervision.

INDOOR FITNESS CLASSES

Langley City Staff are excited to announce the implementation of our Phase 3 of our re-opening strategy with commencement of Indoor Fitness Classes! 

 

Location:  Timms Community Centre Gymnasium- 20399 Douglas Recreation Centre.

Registration:  Must pre-register for classes at least 2 hours in advance.  No Drop-ins!  Registration open one week in advance for all classes.

Meeting/Check-in:  North side of Timms Community Centre at the Gymnasium doors.  Please arrive 5-15 minutes prior to class start to check-in and get your equipment.  Please bring photo ID with you to check-in (membership cards acceptable).

Spin Classes Check-in:  Enter through North Entry Facility doors and proceed directly upstairs to the Fitness Room to check-in with the instructor.

Class Cancellations:  Cancellations  will be posted with a minimum of 2 hours notice.  Please check our website for updates.  
 
Refunds:  Participants may withdraw from a program at any time.  48 hours notice will be required for a credit/refund.  
 
Equipment:  Minimal equipment will be provided for classes.  Participants will also required to disinfect their equipment before and after use (disinfectant provided.)  Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment including mats, towels, water bottles.
 
Washrooms:  Timms Community  Centre is not open to the public. Washrooms will be open to fitness class participants however there are no changing facilities- please come dressed in your workout gear!

Please do not enter any City of Langley facilities or programs if you are sick or have respiratory symptoms. 
To help support the health and safety of our community we would like to remind you of the following: 

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze using your elbow.
  • Remain at least 2 meters apart from staff and other participants at all times.
  • Sanitize your hands before and after participating in programs.
  • Do not share equipment.

Yoga & Pilates

GENTLE YOGA

This program follows the Hatha Yoga principles focusing on a healthy mind-body connection but moves through the various positions and a slower pace with gentle movements and mindfulness.  Ideal for all levels of fitness and experience- beginners are welcome and encouraged to give this class a try - you will not regret it!

CHAIR YOGA (14+ yrs)

This gentle yoga is practiced sitting on a chair or standing and using a chair for support.  Chair yoga is a great form of exercise for everyone as it deepens flexibility and strengthens body awareness no matter what your age or ability level.  This is an all-level class appropriate for those who have never taken a yoga class before as well as experienced practitioners.

A revolutionary high-intensity workout led by music to motivate you to crush your ultimate fitness goals.  This non-dance interval class uses high impact moves in coordination with music motivation.  Music has been crafted to match every move providing intensity and challenging progressions for a full-body workout every class.  Using your own body weight, you will gain muscular endurance, tone and definition and still enjoy the traditional Zumba party-like atmosphere.

Zumba Adapted

Designed for beginners, the active older population and those with cognitive and/or physical challenges.  Zumba Adapted is a low-impact dance fitness class that if friendly and fun for all fitness levels.    Suspended until Fall 2020.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tai-Chi (Yang style)

Brought to you by the Fraser Valley Tai Chi Arts (formerly known as Fraser Valley Taijiquan Association). Instructor Travis Crombie is a 7th generation teacher of Yang Style Tai. Chi with over 30 years experience.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese exercise which emphasizes slow, graceful, connected, flowing movements helping to cultivate a relaxed body and mind. It combines the calm of meditation, the harmonizing and healing potential of the best medicine and the subtle skills of the internal martial arts. Beginners welcome!  This course will teach:

  • the fundamental exercises which will help loosen and relax the body;
  • correct body alignments to help repair and heal joint, ligament and tendon problems;
  • energy flow and breathing is known in Chinese medicine as Qi (Chi);
  • Natural movements to develop strength, fluidity, endurance and body cohesion.

Fit For Life

This advanced program is designed for those who have completed the Osteofit training or are actively mobile and regular exercisers.  Following a low impact cardio warm-up, participants will be let through a variety of strength and balance training using various equipment and body weight exercises.  This class involves mat work so participants must be comfortable getting to and from the ground.  Flexibility and relaxation techniques are also part of the fun!
