The City of Langley is at an exciting stage related to parks, recreation, and culture. With the arrival of the SkyTrain, a densifying city centre, and significant population growth, the City of Langley of the future will be a far more dynamic community offering unique opportunities to residents and visitors. As a result, the City of Langley is updating our Parks, Recreation, and Culture Master Plan (PRC Master Plan).
The purpose of the PRC Master Plan is to strategically guide and manage the direction of parks, recreation, and culture for the next 10 years to support Langley remaining a vibrant and livable City. The plan update presents an exciting opportunity to identify and address needs in the community for new and improved parks, trails, and recreation and culture facilities and services.
The planning process involves reviewing existing plans, policies and strategies, conducting a technical review of existing facilities and amenities, and community engagement. In the fall of 2021, there was a community survey, workshops, and pop-up engagement to find out residents’ perspectives and needs. Those have now been combined with analysis into a summary of the draft master plan.
We are requesting your input on the draft master plan. Please read the Summary of Engagement, the draft Master Plan, complete the 10-minute survey, and attend the virtual open house on April 12. As the City will need to phase the recommendations in over time, your priorities will guide the phasing.
