Applications are invited for Temporary Full-Time Shift Supervisor in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department at Al Anderson Memorial Pool.  The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the aquatic program when the Director and the Recreation Supervisor are absent, and is also responsible for short term program and operations. The casual assignment will start April 17, 2017 and will end April 30, 2017.   The temporary full-time assignment will start May 1, 2017 and will end September 1, 2017

RATE OF PAY:            Shift Supervisor:  $26.61 - $27.41 (2015 C.U.P.E. rates)

HOURS OF WORK:     40 hours per week. 
                                  (Monday to Sunday including days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends)

Temporary Full-Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid annual vacation.

A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, National Lifesaving Award, Basic Rescuer CPR, Red Cross Instructor Award, BCRP Pool Operator I Certification and Lifesaving Instructor Award are required.  Extensive experience in lifeguarding and instruction, a Lifesaving Examiner Award, National Lifesaving Instructor Award, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Training, BCRPA Pool Operator’s II Certification, BCRPA Aquafit Instructor Certification (or equivalent), CPR Instructor Certification, Red Cross Aquatic Programmers Course or equivalent combination of training and experienced are desired. Lifeguard/Instructors are responsible for promoting participation in aquatic activities, practicing good public relations, providing supervision of the public within the pool complex, assisting with special events, and preparing and completing plans, records, and forms at the beginning and end of instructional sessions. The assignments start on May 8, 2017 and ends on September 1, 2017. 

RATE OF PAY:            Lifeguard / Instructor: $25.43 to $26.22 (2015 C.U.P.E. rates)

HOURS OF WORK:       35 hours per week (Sunday to Thursday) 

                                    May – June, weekday hours will be:     2:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
                                    July – August, weekday hours will be:  3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

                                    Weekend hours May – August will be:   1:00 p.m. –  9:00 p.m.
                                    *Hours are subject to change based on programming
