Design Criteria Manual

The Design Criteria Manual (DCM) outlines the required engineering design and construction standards in the City of Langley for both land developments and all other capital/operating projects in the City. The requirements in the City’s DCM are to be read in conjunction with the City’s Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw, 2021, No. 3126.

Construction Projects
Fraser Highway One Way Utility & Road Upgrades

Location: Fraser Highway from 204 Street to 206 Street

Estimated Duration: Fall 2024 - Spring 2026 

Estimated Investment: $18 million

Project Details:

  • Replace the aging water main and services

  • Replace the aging sanitary and storm sewers and services between

  • Underground BC Hydro Transmission Infrastructure between

  • Surface Works include paving, concrete curbs, concrete sidewalks, pavers, streetlights, tree planting, shrub planting, benches, tables, electrical, irrigations, grass etc.

56 Avenue Water, Storm, and Sanitary Sewer Replacement

Location: 56 Avenue from 200 Street to 203 Street

Estimated Completion: Spring 2024 

Estimated Investment: $5 million

  • Replace the aging water main and services between 200 Street and 203 Street
  • Replace the aging storm sewer and services between 200 Street and 203 Street
  • Upgrade the existing Traffic Signal on 56 Avenue at 201A Street

Michaud Crescent Improvements & Water Main Replacement

Location: Michaud Crescent from 200 Street to 203 Street

Estimated Duration: April 2024 to Fall 2024 

Estimated Investment: $2.4 million

Project Details:

  • Road rehabilitation and reconstruction
  • Replacement of aging water main
  • Protected bike lane along the south side 
  • Intersection safety improvements
  • Retention of existing trees and addition of new trees

Temporary Impacts:

  • Temporary parking prohibitions along Michaud Crescent
  • Sidewalk detours 
  • Extended closure of the south side 
  • Construction noise to be expected from 7 am to 7 pm

Michaud Greenway Paving

  • Accessibility improvement
  • Landscaping improvement
  • Traffic signal upgrades 

Temporary Impacts:

  • Sidewalk closures and detours
  • 203 Street Southbound lane closure
  • 56 Avenue Westbound curb lane closure

200 Street Culvert Upgrade

Location: Baldi Creek at 200 Street (5400 Block)

  • Re-lining of the existing two steel (CSP) deteriorating culverts with HDPE lining 

Temporary Impacts:

  • Traffic lane and sidewalk closures

  • Replace two existing trees and install silva cells

  • Plaza closure
  • Parking closure south of the plaza
