Bylaw 3127 - 2020-2024 Financial Plan Amendment Bylaw

Council gave third and final reading (adoption) to 2020-2024 Financial Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 3127 which amends the 2020-2024 Financial Plan by reducing the overall tax increase for 2020 from 6.67% to 1.83% in order to ease the financial pressures on taxpayers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bylaw No. 3122 - Tax Rate Bylaw

Council adopted Tax Rate Bylaw No. 3122 which sets out the distribution of property taxes amongst the various property tax classes.

Bylaw 3128 - Tax Penalty Addition Bylaw Amendment

Council adopted Tax Penalty Addition Bylaw Amendment No. 3128 which changes the percentage of the penalty for the 2020 Property Taxes from 5% in July and 5% in August to 2% in July and 8% in October in order to provide some measure of relief if property tax payments are not paid in full by the tax due date of July 2, 2020.

Bylaw 3125 - Waiver of Public Hearing for Rezoning Application RZ01-20

Council received a report from the City's Director of Development Services which outlined provisions in the Local Government Act that permit the waiving of a Public Hearing for a rezoning bylaw if  the bylaw is consistent with the Official Community Plan.  Council subsequently passed a motion to waive the Public Hearing for Zoning Bylaw Amendment No. 3125 which would permit a 4-storey, 92 unit apartment development in the 5300 block of 200 Street and 200A Street.

Federation of Canadian Municipalities – Election to the Board of Directors

Council passed a resolution to endorse Mayor Val van den Broek to stand for election on FCM’s Board of Directors for the period starting September 2020 and ending July 2021 and to  have the City assume all costs associated with the Mayor attending FCM’s Board of Directors meetings in accordance with the City’s Travel and Expense Policy.
