New Timms Community Centre Officially Opens

For Immediate Release

Langley, BC – The new Timms Community Centre, located at 20399 Douglas Crescent, will officially open its doors on Wednesday, February 24th, and Langley residents and visitors are invited to experience the Centre’s facilities first-hand with an afternoon of free classes and demonstrations.

The formal program for this grand opening event will begin at 4:00 pm and activities will continue through 7:00 pm. The opening will reveal a full range of state-of-the-art amenities including a gymnasium, fitness track, weight room, spin room, games room and multipurpose rooms. The centre features leading edge equipment which will encourage City of Langley residents to take an active role in their own health and wellbeing. Langley City’s accredited fitness staff will be on hand to provide training tips and guidance on how to properly use the equipment.

“We’ve long envisioned the Timms Community Centre as a hub of community, sports and culture for the City of Langley, and we’re excited to welcome the community to experience the new centre and all it has to offer,” said Mayor Ted Schaffer. “This is a great opportunity for people to try out not only the new equipment but the vast range of activities available.”

“We’d like to welcome all members of the community to come along and embrace the opportunity to try something new,” said Kim Hilton, Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Services. “Whether you want to get fit, or just meet like-minded people in the community, with such a wide range of classes on offer you’re sure to find the ideal way to get active.”

The exciting all-ages event will feature demonstration classes including Hatha Yoga, Ballroom Dancing, Spin Fit and Zumba, as well as free child minding and children’s arts and crafts. Everyone is welcome to share in this historic celebration! View PDF
