Langley, BC – The City would like to empathize with residents who have been impacted by the fire at Paddington Station Apartment complex in the 5600- block of 201 A Street. City and Township Fire crews are on the scene, and the fire has now been contained. Crews are currently conducting a room by room search to ensure safety in the area. The building is heavily damaged and the structures in the area have not been determined safe for re-entry.

All residents have been safely evacuated and one resident was admitted to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. The Langley Emergency Program has set up a reception centre at Douglas Recreation Centre at 20550 Douglas Crescent in Langley and is registering residents. The City appreciates all the compassionate individuals who arrived at Douglas Recreation Centre to volunteer their time or drop-off donations but will not be accepting anymore donations at this time.

At 7:00 pm at Douglas Recreation Centre, an evacuee-only information session is scheduled to inform Paddington Station residents on the situation and next steps. The Fire Department, Langley RCMP, the building owner and the restoration company will be in attendance. The City of Langley will continue to gather information and release it as soon as possible.
