Timms Community Centre Wins at the Fraser Valley Commercial Buildings Awards

Langley, BC – Timms Community Centre won the Community Institutional Building Award of Excellence at the 5th Annual Fraser Valley Commercial Building Awards on Thursday, November 17th at Cascades Casino Resort in Langley. The Fraser Valley Commercial Building Awards celebrates the best in commercial and industrial construction projects completed between January 1, 2015, and August 31, 2016. A record 40 finalist were competing for top honours in 11 categories including new institutional, commercial, industrial, multi-family, recreational, and renovation projects.

“We are overjoyed to receive this honour for our community,” said Mayor Ted Schaffer, “Timms Community Centre has showcased community partnerships with community-minded sponsors offsetting any impact to taxpayers and ensuring users of the facility receive enhanced amenities without incurring any municipal debt.”

The City of Langley would also like to recognize HCMA Architecture & Design, D.G.S Construction Company Ltd. and Turnbull Construction Project Managers for their combining efforts to make Timms Community Centre a shining success.

“We are proud to have played our part in bringing this vital project to fruition,” said  Stuart Rothnie, Principal, HCMA Architecture + Design, “At HCMA we strongly believe in the ability of buildings to shape and contribute to the well-being and connections between people. The Timms Community Centre gives the citizens of the City a place to meet, linger, enjoy an active lifestyle and share the rewards of simply connecting with others.”

The City of Langley is honoured to receive an Award of Excellence at the Fraser Valley Commercial Building Awards gala. The Awards celebrate the best commercial and industrial construction in Langley, Surrey, North Delta, White Rock, Abbotsford, Mission, and Chilliwack.
