WEIGHT TRAINING HELP
 
Need some help with your weight training program?  Whether you are new to weight training, in need of a complete routine make-over or just looking for some tips and motivation, the City of Langley Fitness Team is here to help you reach your goals. 
 
WEIGHT ROOM ORIENTATIONS: 
Book a 1 hour orientation with one our BCRPA certified trainers and learn how to use the cardio and strength equipment safely and effectively.  Orientations will include a basic program designed for beginners to get you started in the weight room with confidence.  Please note, this is not a personal training program - it is a beginner program suitable for most individuals starting out with weight training.

Cost:  $12.50+gst

Dates/ Times:  A variety of days and times are available for Weight Room Orientations.  Please check with reception staff at Timms Community Centre to book a convenient time for you.  604-514-2940.

PERSONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS:  

Work with a certified BCRPA personal trainer to create a tailored fitness program to meet your specific needs and goals.  Personal Training sessions are one hour each and will include a fitness assessment, detailed program design, motivational workouts and support from your trainer.  Need extra motivation and support?  Book tandem training sessions and train with a friend or spouse!  Training sessions will be scheduled according to your availability so there's no excuse.... book your trainer today!

GROUP WEIGHT TRAINING PROGRAMS:

Need the extra motivation?  Personal training is also available in a small group setting!  You will still get a personalized weight training program to suit your individual goals and needs but you will also get the added bonus of a more social setting with others who are working towards similar goals.

Prime Time Training (55+ yrs) - COED

In a small group setting, a certified personal trainer will guide you through the use of equipment and set participants up with an appropriate and effective fitness routine.  Proper strength training will increase your joing mobility and flexibility while strengthening core muscles allowing for more stability.

Stronger You - Ladies Only (18+yrs)  Instructor:  Caszie S

Meet 3x per week in a small group setting of ladies only with our BCRPA certified trainer Caszie.  This program is meant to be a starting point for a healthier more active liefestyle allowing participants to continue on their own using the tools, knowledge and confidence gained from the training program.  Your upper and lower body strength will be tested and challenged over this four week program.  A variety of weight training, cardio and body weight exercises will be introduced, each participant will have a training program tailored made to meet their goals and abilities.  No previous weight training experience needed!  Suitable for all fitness levels.

This program follows the Hatha Yoga principles focusing on a healthy mind-body connection but moves through the various positions and a slower pace with gentle movements and mindfulness.  Ideal for all levels of fitness and experience- beginners are welcome and encouraged to give this class a try - you will not regret it!

RESTORATIVE YOGA (14+ yrs)

Restorative Yoga is a healing and recuperative experience that uses props to support the body while holding restorative non-standing poses to achieve a deep level of relaxation. The slower pace and deep breathing in this program helps calm the nervous system and increase body awareness.

YIN YOGA (14+ yrs)

Yin Yoga involves variations of seated, prone and supine poses targeting the connective tissue around the joints (mainly knees, pelvis, spine) that are not normally exercised in other Yoga practices.  Suitable for most levels- including beginners.  This is a passive form of yoga practice which is meditative and relaxing.

Tai-Chi (Yang style)

Brought to you by the Fraser Valley Tai Chi Arts (formerly known as Fraser Valley Taijiquan Association). Instructor Travis Crombie is a 7th generation teacher of Yang Style Tai. Chi with over 30 years experience.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese exercise which emphasizes slow, graceful, connected, flowing movements helping to cultivate a relaxed body and mind. It combines the calm of meditation, the harmonizing and healing potential of the best medicine and the subtle skills of the internal martial arts. Beginners welcome!  This course will teach:

Ready for the next level?  Stroller Bootcamp for moms and babies/tots incluces a variety of drills that focus on strength, power, agility, balance, cardio and core.  Benefit from the camaraderie of other moms and your community while getting a high intensity, full body workout.  Women must be "body ready" for this advanced class.  This means you have already eased back into fitness 3-6 days per week.  Drop-ins welcome if space permits  $14/visit.

Stretch, breath and relax your body back into shape. Enjoy Asanas (postures) specifically tailored to your needs as a new mother. Special attention will be given to strengthening your core and releasing tension in your neck, shoulders, hips and back. This class is best suited to pre-mobile babies.

Join us for an early morning workout that will get your day started with renewed energy and motivation! This workout is designed to burn fat and build lean muscle mass through a series of action-packed cardio pumps, upper and lower body calisthenics, basic weight training, field drills, shadow boxing, balance training, core exercises and ABS, ABS and more ABS!  Not suitable for those new to exercise, beginner bootcampers welcome!

Be young at heart and body!  It is never too late to learn how to weight train!  Our certified personal trainer will guide a small group through the use of equipment and set up each participant with their own personal training plan.  At the end of this program participants will be confident and comfortable in the weight room and using the various equipment.

STRONGER YOU - Ladies Only Introductory Strength & Conditioning Program

Ladies it's your time - time to become health educated, confident and STRONG!  Our Certified Personal Trainer will coach you and several other woment through a health and wellness journey that will not only transform your body but your mind and spirit as well!  Participants will meet 3X per week for 4 weeks and be introduced to a variety of weight room exercises and home workouts designed by our instructor to meet your specific goals.  No previous weight training experience needed - beginners welcome!

STRONGER YOU 2 - Ladies Only Intermediate Strength & Conditioning Program

Continue your journey to becoming stronger in mind, body and soul!  Working in a small group setting with other women with simiar goals and training experience, you will continue to work with a trainer to become more confident and competent using weights and body weight exercises to get you closer to your fitness and wellness goals.  Participants must have completed the Introductory course prior to participating in Stronger You 2.
