Langley City, BC – The City of Langley has an ongoing partnership with the BC Recreation and Parks Association and the University of British Columbia's Centre for Hip Health and Mobility to provide another Choose to Move Activity program for older adults at Timms Community Centre.

Choose to Move is a free and flexible program that aims to get seniors to set and meet their physical activity goals by adding more movement to their daily lives.

"Choose to Move is a science-based approach to help introduce the habit of physical activity and is suitable for everyone regardless of their interests, abilities, or availability. Programs are tailor-made to meet individual goals," said Christine Daum, Recreation Supervisor at Timms Community Centre. "Being active is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your overall health, help you feel better, be stronger, and keep your independence."

Interested in the Choose to Move Program?

Seniors interested in getting active are encouraged to register by calling 604-514-2940 to attend the free informational session on Saturday, April 15, at 11:30 am in Timms Community Centre.

The Choose to Move program will run from April 22 to June 24, 2023. Participants will meet with a certified activity coach and work one-on-one to develop a personalized fitness plan that fits their preferences and lifestyle. The program includes private consultations, group meetings for encouragement and motivation, and regular phone check-ins.

Choose to Move is offered across the province. The program has enhanced the health of over 5,000 seniors across British Columbia. For more information on the program, contact Christine Daum at cdaum@langleycity.ca or 604-514.2940.
