Downtown Cycling Enhancements Coming

Date

For Immediate Release

The City will be improving bike lane connectivity through downtown Langley with new protected bike lanes on 203 Street (from Michaud to 56 Avenue), Douglas Crescent (from 203 Street to 204 Street), and 204 Street (from Douglas Crescent to Fraser Highway). The new cycling infrastructure will connect the existing 203 Street bike lanes to the newly constructed bike lanes on Glover Road. Once completed, a continuous protected cycling route will be available for everyone to enjoy in Langley.

The project will be funded by TransLink and will use road markings, delineator posts, concrete curbs, and barriers to protect cyclists from vehicles and encourage users of all ages and abilities to cycle.

Project display boards will be available for in-person viewing at Langley City Hall, 20399 Douglas Crescent on Tuesday, March 28, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Staff will be present to answer your questions. Project boards remain up for public inspection until March 31.

Construction will take place from May to July 2023. Bus stops may be temporarily affected, and motorists in the area should expect some traffic delays and minor parking restrictions. Access to businesses and properties will remain open throughout construction. This initiative is one of the many projects that make the City of Langley - The Place to Be!
