Langley City, BC – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of former, long-time Councillor Evan Williams on January 5, 2024.
Evan was first elected to Langley City Council in 1993 and served Langley City residents until his retirement in 2002. His contributions to our community were many, including service to numerous internal and external committees, always with the focus of what he felt was best for Langley City. He had a passion for business and was very involved with the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Langley Business Association (DLBA). He was instrumental in the implementation of several key programs and projects during his three-year term as Board Chair of the DLBA. Evan was a fixture in downtown Langley regularly visiting local businesses and chatting with merchants and other residents. He will be greatly missed by our community.
“Evan led by example, as was evidenced by his commitment to City Council, his success as a local business person, and his strong connections to family and friends”, said Mayor Nathan Pachal. “He worked closely with others to encourage them to consider getting more involved in local politics and served as a mentor to many. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and family”.
The flags at City Hall will be flown at half-mast from now until the day of his Celebration of Life when announced.
