Honour the service of veterans past and present

Langley City, BC – Every year on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, at the eleventh hour, Canadians gather to stand in honour of all who have fallen. Join the community on Friday, November 11 at 10:50 am in Douglas Park, 20550 Douglas Crescent, for the Remembrance Day service. The City is welcoming people to participate in-person this year. Mayor and Council, School Trustees, local MLAs, MPs, and other community members will also be in attendance.

The ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph in Douglas Park, and the Order of Service will be:
 

  • Greetings - Emcee Jim McGregor
  • "O Canada"
  • Invocation Prayer - TBA
  • Last Post - Steve Thompson
  • Two Minutes of Silence
  • In Flanders Field Poem - RCMP Constable
  • Lament - Piper Rob Duff
  • Rouse - Steve Thompson
  • Act of Remembrance - Emcee Jim McGregor
  • The Lord's Prayer & Scripture Reading  - TBA
  • "O God Our Help in Ages Past"
  • Act of Homage - Emcee Jim McGregor
  • Laying of the Wreaths - Official Wreaths followed by Community Wreaths
  • "Amazing Grace" - Piper Rob Duff
  • Benediction Pastor - TBA
  • "God Save the King"


All members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend. For those unable to attend in person, Langley City produced the video, Langley City Remembers to provide an opportunity for those who are not able to attend an in-person ceremony but would still like the opportunity to remember. Please note it is recommended to start the video at 10:55 am to observe a moment of silence at 11:00 am.

City Hall Closure

In recognition of Remembrance Day, City Hall, Operation Centre, Douglas Recreation Centre, Langley City Library, Community Police Office, and the Fire Hall will be closed to the public. Timms Community Centre's weight room will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, although there will not be any fitness or gym programming available. Regular hours will resume on Monday, November 14.
