A Step Toward Revitalization in Downtown Langley

Date

For Immediate Release

Langley City, BC – The City is committed to the Nexus of Community Visioning Plan and the Downtown Master Plan, and has been proactively leveraging its assets to develop and strengthen the City’s identity in anticipation of the arrival of SkyTrain. Over the past several years, the City has strategically acquired the properties adjacent to City Hall/Timms Community Centre to create a civic precinct and an entertainment district as per the Visioning Plan.

These properties, which run along Fraser Highway, 56th Avenue, and 203rd Street, were former homes to Avecina Medical Clinic, Pipe “n” Pouch, Pastime Sports, Langley Hotel, and Key Largo.
The vacant buildings will be demolished over the coming months and the empty sites will be used in the short-term for public parking and tactical urbanism elements, which may include the creation of new active and passive recreational opportunities.
